Train to Work in Athens Special

NEW teachers who will be working at an Athens Center may be eligible for all four classes of Pre-service training AT NO CHARGE thanks to the Athens Economic Development Council. Any existing teacher can sign up to attend all 24 hours of classes plus CPR (in Athens) for just $100. Call JJ at 903-592-1454 to register for the special. 

The topics covered are: Minimum Standards, Developmental stages of children, Age-appropriate activities for children, Positive Guidance and Discipline of Children, Fostering Children’s positive self-esteem, Supervision and Safety practices in the care of children, Positive Interaction with children, Preventing and controlling the spread of communicable diseases, including Immunizations.

Includes one hour of: Early Childhood Brain Development, Recognizing and preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome and Abusive Head Trauma, Understanding and using safe sleep practices and preventing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Includes one hour of: Recognizing and Detecting Child Abuse/Neglect.

This class fulfills the pre-services requirements for new child care teachers or professional development requirements for existing teachers.
