Conference of Champions 10-8-22

Come join us at our fall Conference of Champions!  This conference is unique because you get to pick your sessions.  It will be held at Tyler Junior College – main campus in the Jenkins building.  Lunch will be served in the Rogers Student Center. We have ten presenters that will offer tips and techniques to help us be better teachers.  Our Keynote this year  by Dr. Pamela J. Phoenix – “Teachers Matter!”

When you register: choose three classes in the first section and just in case your classes are full – pick three more classes in the second section.  Please note there are two prices – Regular and TECPA member price.  Registration begins at 8:00am and classes begin at 8:30.  You will receive a certificate for seven clock hours.

No registration at the door.

1. Language Development Through Reading

Presenter: Amy Skipper, MLS

Learn about the importance of reading to infants and toddlers, and how it supports early language development.  Also the benefits and tips for reading with young children. (Infant, Toddler, Directors)

 

2. The Three R’s of Self-Care and Building Connections

Presenter:  ShaRhonda Miles, CCHC, TRS

Learn self-care stress reducing tips to apply daily and how to develop a personal wellness plan that fosters positive relationships.

3. Communicating Efficiently with Children!

Presenter:  Kim Paetzel, M.Ed

Learn about over-talking and more appropriate ways to communicate with children efficiently.

4. Transforming Behavior in Pre-K and School-age children!

Learn how to identify why challenging behaviors occur and how to respond to those behaviors.

5.  Rainy Day Fun!

Presenter: Dakota Finney, A.S., CDA

Did you know you are still required to do moderate to vigorous activities even on rainy days?  Come learn some fun activities you can do with toddlers and Pre-K children to chase away the rainy day blues.

8.  The Brain Architecture Game©

The Brain Architecture Game builds an understanding of the powerful role of experiences on early brain development – what promotes it, what derails it, and what consequences it has for society.

9. Have Fun Playing with Your After-School Children!

Presenter:  Marilynn McKinney, B.S., LSW

Having fun is important for children.  It is beneficial for their social, physical and mental health. Learn some fun activities to do with your school-age children.

10.  Helping Delayed or Disabled Infants and Toddlers

Presenters:  Amber Wright, B.S., EIS and Emily Bowdoin, B.A., EIS

Learn more about Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) a Texas program that supports and empowers families to help their children birth to age 3, with developmental delays, disabilities or certain medical diagnoses that may impact development.
