Conference of Champions 10-9-21

Come join us at our fall Conference of Champions!  This conference is unique because you get to pick your sessions.  It will be held at Tyler Junior College – main campus in the Jenkins building.  Lunch will be served in the Rogers Student Center. We have nine presenters that will offer tips and techniques to help us be better teachers.  Our Keynote this year is Mayor Don Warren who is presenting:

Gerbil on a Wheel – How to get off the wheel with help from people that believe in you.

When you register: choose three classes in the first section and just in case your classes are full – pick three more classes in the second section.  

1. Building Positive Teacher- Child Relationships

Learn fun, interactive tips on building relationships with the children in your classroom, which you can incorporate throughout your day.  Venice Ray, A.A., CDA

2. Reading is FUNdamental!

Explore ways to weave reading throughout your lesson plans in fun, creative activities. Brandee Overshown, CDA

3. Music and Movement

Children and music naturally go together well.  Learn ways to build fun music and movement activities throughout the day. Alejandra Lopez Chavez, B.S.

4. STEAM is the Future

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math – explore ways to build these subjects into your daily teaching activities.  Shannon Bedsole, B.S.

5. Coach, Mentor, Boss or Friend?

“The more we get together the happier we’ll be,” it’s more than a childhood song. This is the secret to transforming your center from a group of employees into a well working family. Amber Welguisz, M.Ed.

6. Germs, Boo-Boos, Oh My! Operation Health and Safety 

This training is focused on germ prevention, health and safety! We will discuss germs in the workplace and the Minimum Standards around these.  This especially important now.

7. Working with Children from Hard Places

This session will discuss how to effectively work with children that come from traumatic backgrounds.  Kathy Fergueson, B.S.Ed.

8. Tips to Help Children with Learning Differences

Children’s learning is sometimes hindered by disabilities or developmental delays.  Explore ways to help each child learn appropriately despite these issues.  Stephanie Wilcox, B.A.

9. Español: Building Spanish Culture and Language in your Classroom

A simple guide for incorporating Spanish culture and language in your lesson plans and activities in the early childhood classroom. Alex Alfaro, B.A.A.S.
